Even though Spring has arrived on the calendar, there is still a heck of a lot of snow on the ground. Even still, it feels like that time of year to go through the closets and find what fits, and pass on what doesn't. Last year, I made my little girl some new spring clothes that I posted about here. I'm even more inspired this year, largely to seeing other mamas (like this one) make her family's garments. I know I can do this, it's just finding the time! So I've prioritized my crafting time and I'm trying to create more clothing for my family...the children in particular. And I must say, little girls must be one of the most satisfying people to clothe!
Of course, Miss Sunshine had to button up her own sweater ~ "I do by my Self!" Indeed!
The pattern is Simplicity 5226 that I bought over a year ago, though the sizing starts at 3 years. I liked that it included an entire wardrobe of patterns.
My girl likes her pockets, so I added a pair of front hand warmers just for her.
I so appreciate the making of clothing for my little ones. I love letting them pick out their favourite fabrics, the patterns they might prefer, the embellishes that have to happen! And it is surprising how economical it is to make your own clothes (if you already own the sewing machine, of course)! But the very best part of all...is watching them wear in those hand-made clothes.
And if they really like them, they will be worn day after day after day!

Beautiful, Jules -- the clothes and the little one wearing them! I agree -- little girls *are* fun to sew for. My daughter loves, loves wearing dresses and skirts, and I've been stashing some fabric to make her some simple summer pinafores. Farmama has inspired me too!

Ah Jules, isn't she a darling?!
The pants are so adorable- I agree that making clothing for girls is so much fun.
I've had to become creative with making clothes for my boys- often modifying girls patterns, or using "pajama" patterns to make their things- boy things can be fun too! :)
I have a bunch of things all lined up waiting to sew, once my machine is all good as new again (Friday!).
I've loved making my children's clothing- and have gotten to the point where probably 80 percent of their things are mama made. And one of the wonderful things about it is that you can taylor their things to their body types and personalities/ favorite things so the "fit" couldn't be more perfect! Ella is my slim willowy TALL girl so I make things in a fairly small size with lots of length added. Asa is my sturdy boy so he gets close to the same size as Ollie Winter, only shortened- Ezri is also super tall so I add rise to his things etc etc.
I look forward to seeing your sewing creations, Jules!

She looks so sweet in her new trousers/pants. How pleased is she! I need to make more time to make clothes, as the children always love it when they have something special made for them. I let the girls choose the fabric for skirts last year and their choices have surprised me sometimes. They are always right and, boy, do they wear them!

oh, i love the ruffled pants. i think she likes being a model too! I would very much like to make more of our clothes but I have to start small ~ a skirt here and some socks there. It's all about not biting off more than I can chew right now. But how cool it would be to make most of our clothes!

Great work! She is a doll! You are so talented! I so understand the wanting to do it herself (with the buttons) just too cute. I heart ruffles!

Love that fence!!! and my what a cutie pie!!! I have yet to attempt to make clothes -- so many things I need to learn - lol. I am happy that you like the "Sun Egg Bird Feeders" - perhaps I should have called them that on my post. Please, do link up.
