Hello! I am here. Honest, I am. Life is so very full and every night I hope to wake up from putting the children to bed, and then I close my eyes again and sink easily into sleep.
I'm struggling to carve out a little "me" time right now, though I see that I have put it on the backburner of priorities. Afterall, our first new farm friends arrive in about a month's time and there is sooooo much to do. And that is honestly highly motivating to me to set aside the knitting or writing or crafting time, and help dig a hole here or sow more pasture seed there. Move the chicken tractor (again!) and those pigs seem hungry (again!).
And I love it all. I love the farm chores and the planning and the busy-ness of caring for four other humans and close to 100 critters at the moment. And the exhaustion at the end of the day is (usually) the good kind of exhaustion where sleep overwhelms and I can feel my body resting with grateful appreciation. And slowly but surely, one shovelful of dirt at a time, we are building the farm. With a few beach visits thrown in here and there, and a birthday party or two as well, this is the essence of our days right now. The countdown is on and the critters will be arriving...soon!
Amongst the work, there are sweet moments of precious gifts. My husband brought home a few rosebuds from the wild rose bushes that grow abundantly nearby...
I strung them up the following day with a generous picking of yellow rosebuds at my dear friend's farm. My fingers were sticky with rose oil that I was reluctant to rub off. The rosebuds now hang in our kitchen, perfuming the house...I love roses.
Almost as much as I love this photo, perhaps the gem of the week...
My sweet Huckley boy riding a motorcycle with Sunshine's Rosie. He was tenderly cradling her like a real papa would...oh, such sweet moments.
Have a beautiful, summery weekend, friends!
